Elementary School ‘Spinut'

Elementary school “Spinut” (formerly known as “Ruđer Bošković”) from Split began with its work in academic year of 1954/55. Purpose was to become a place to practice the pedagogic skills of Higher Pedagogic School, at a later time Pedagogic Academy and today's Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Education. Founded as a training place with a specific status as to a selection of educators, it served as a didactical and pedagogical practicum for students of education studies. Results of joint teachers', professors', students' and pupils' work are visible even today: mutual projects, exhibitions, workshops, outdoor games, teaching praxis and numerous teachers of this school have been long term external co-operators of the Faculty.
School fosters the processes of support to pupils' efforts for constructive learning, paced teachers' requests (in respect to individual needs, interests and abilities) and work on internal motivation, social and ethical dimension of learning process. As such, school has always been open to share its knowledge and findings with numerous visitors.
Enhancements and improvements in the field of education depend on teacher's community perception, mutual cooperation, conditions that enable teacher to follow the change risk, admit his/hers mistake and learn from them. School's staff is willing and eager to put an extra effort (with emphasis on Croatian National Educational Standard, CNES, experimental project) towards achieving set goals of our new “democratic” school.
