The Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Education, University of Split, is the first and the oldest faculty in South Croatia, with a 50-year experience in educating primary and secondary school teachers. The scientific tradition of the Faculty in the area of natural sciences and computer science reflects itself through a long time research activity and research projects supported by the Croatian Ministry of Science and Technology. The Faculty cooperates actively in a number of projects at the level of bilateral cooperation with research institutions in Europe and USA.

The scientific competence on an international level of the people from the Department of Computer Science can be seen from a number of research publications. Department has extensive expertise in various domains like Human-Computer Interaction, Intelligent Agents, Semantic Web as well as in all aspects of eLearning: computer-based educational systems (Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Authoring Shells, Learning Management Systems), knowledge representation, SCORM model and in very important related educational and pedagogical issues as well. Research and work of the people from the Department resulted in the conceptualization, development and deployment of a series of technical generations of systems based on TEx-Sys model.

During the last years the Department of Computer Science has been involved in many research and technological projects, both as a coordinator or as a partner.
